Study on a Framework of e-Leaming for Higher Education System in Sri Lanka

Abstract

As in most developing countries, Sri Lanka is currently struggling to resolve how e- Leaming might offer viable and effective solutions to a chronic shortage of available student seats in its brick-and-mortar universities. This paper aims to examine and critique Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Education policies towards higher education, and subsequently, highlight what e-Leaming solutions, if any, can be effectively and efficiently implemented. In doing so, this paper apprises a number of learning management systems, and chooses a suitable one that addresses Sri Lanka’s educational needs and also proposes an e-Leaming framework along with a learning content deliverable architecture for fulfilling Sri Lankan deprived networking infrastructure and the pedagogical environment.
