Social media is one of the reasons that has led to globalization through effective communication by reducing the distance between countries. Its presentation of information and provoking engagement has attracted many multinational companies to utilize it to create awareness of their brand. This research was conducted to identify the influence of brand and brand-related content shared online targeting the Sri Lankan youth population. This study was built based on two objectives, which are Sri Lankan consumer engagement towards a brand and brand-related content shared in social networking sites and the techniques that could be used to get better outcomes from it. The study of 150 questionnaires indicates that brand content-related cues, such as perceived uniqueness, perceived vividness, and perceived interactivity, have remarkable effects on consumers’ affective and cognitive involvement that leads to consumer engagement. Advertising effectiveness models and Stimuli-Organism-Response (SOR) framework were used to analyse consumer’s psychological and behavioural responses to brand-related content shared via SNS. Structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyse and interpret responses received. According to the findings, it is important to consider the target market of the brand, demographical factors, consumer’s psychological and behavioural responses to the content shared online for any social networking marketing campaigns. This study contributes to a better understanding of the influence of brand content to improve consumer engagement, which could be further analysed to increase customer conversion and retention.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced schools around the world to close their schools indefinitely and move their instructional activities onto online platforms. The schools were not ready for such a transition and their online teaching-learning method evolved bit by bit. We conducted a survey during which we asked students in the Colombo district regarding their opinion on completely different aspects of online education throughout the continuing pandemic. We received responses from 500 students. The students felt that they learn better in physical school rooms (64.4%) and by accessing free educational material (52.9%) than through online education. The scholars, however, felt that the teachers have improved their online teaching skills since the start of the pandemic (66.7%), and online education is a viable option (72.8%). The students appreciated the computer code and online study materials being employed to support online education. However, the students felt that online education is nerve-wracking and affecting their health and social life. This pandemic is a semiconductor diode to widespread adoption of online education and also the lessons we are learning currently are going to be useful in the future.

Most elderly people require special care to live a healthy life free of anxieties and distress. The elderly are abused by their family members due to a lack of information about their changing behavioural patterns at home. A personal assistant for the elderly is a great way to provide help where it is needed, while still allowing the elderly person to preserve their freedom and independence in other areas. However, humans-based personal assistants are not available today, because most of them are not interested in taking care of unknown elderly people. Moreover, humans-based personal assistance services are very costly and insecure. Therefore, the elderly may require the services of a robot as a personal assistant, which can assist them in a precise way. In Sri Lanka, due to the language barriers, most elderly people need Sinhala language-based robots as personal assistants. This research proposes software of Sinhala language-based robot personal assistant. This can fill the gap created by the existence of only English language-based robots with the Sinhala language-based personal assistant in an efficient way. Thus, the objective of this research is to communicate with the elderly as personal assistants by using the Sinhala language. The proposed application was developed using artificial intelligence-based algorithms. The accuracy of the system was calculated against the training test cases and found to be above 70%. In conclusion, the developed robotic software can help elderly people as personal assistants in Sri Lanka safely and cheaply.

The purpose of this study was to provide an in-depth understanding of the impact of push and pull motivating factors on the revisit intention of young domestic travelers of Sri Lanka. The study adopted a questionnaire survey and engaged with 240 young respondents between the ages of 18-30. The survey was used to examine the plausibility of pre-established hypotheses through SPSS and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The study aims to understand whether motivating factors and satisfaction to revisit a location has changed with the impact caused to the normal day-to-day life of Sri Lankan young travelers. The questionnaire included 33 questions regarding the dimensions of knowledge, kingship, novelty, entertainment, sports, and escape to examine the push motivation and pull motivation derived from the dimensions of key tourist resources, information, the convenience of facilities, and accessibility and transportation. The research has drawn the conclusion that the independent variables both directly and indirectly influence the revisit intention, and therefore, a partial mediation was found between the independent variables and the dependent variable, and push and pull factors were accepted to have an influence on satisfaction, and thereby also on revisit intention.
