dc.description.abstract Global warming, Climate Change, Sea Level Rise, shortage of food and fresh water, droughts, floods and extreme climatic events are the few topics that have been taking into consideration by the national and international community. Scientists, policy makers, researchers and other responsible personalities have pay attention to solve these problems or response on impacts. On the other hand, it is clear and has admitted scientifically that the root cause for all these problems is emission of green house gases, especially, C02 into atmosphere. All agree that the chief agent that is responsible to generate Co2 is burning fossil fuel. Auto mobiles are the main sector that consumes fossil fuels. If either the use of vehicle or use of fossil fuels for vehicle can be reduced, the emission of Co2 can be cut significantly. There are many experiments that can be used to reduce fossil fuel consumption for transport sector. Solar energy, electricity and hydrogen gas are the few source of energy that propose and find ways to use instead of fossil fuel. The current paper discusses the ways and applicability of gravitational force that can be used as an energy source for transport sector in Sri Lanka. Even cursory observer would also realize that there are favourable factors that can be used gravitational force for transport sector in this country. Relief, locations of urban centers, populated areas and road net work are few positive aspects in this regards. It is obvious that many drivers in Sri Lanka get used to apply gravitational force or “Neutral driving” already to drive many miles using unsafe methods. This paper prose the value of gravitational force applying to transport sector and the possibilities. The finding of this research may help in many ways to reduce global warming and related issues. If the proposed method can be applied to Sri Lanka, expenditure on fossil fuels can be decreased by 25 -50%. en_US
