dc.description.abstract Soil stabilization is one of the most suitable alternatives which are widely used in pavement construction. Soil stabilization techniques are used to improve the engineering properties of soil such as strength and stability. In this study quarry dust and lime mixture has been selected as stabilizers for weak upper sub-base soil deposits. In Order to determine the strength variations on different properties of soil, it was mixed with the quarry dust from 0% to 15% at an increment of 5%. Optimum percentage of quarry dust to stabilize soil was found out as 10% and lime was added 2 %>, 4% and 6%> by dry weight of soil. Optimum percentage of lime to stabilize optimum soil-quarry dust was found out as 4%. Atterberg limit and compaction tests were carried out on both unmodified and modified soil. California bearing ratio (CBR) test was performed to determine the strength properties of the soil, quarry dust and lime mixtures. Compacting soil with 10%> of quarry dust increased the value of Maximum Dry Density (MDD) by 10.88% with comparing to the natural soil. Compacting soil with 4% of lime increased the value of MDD by 7.25% with comparing to the original soil. The CBR value of the soil increased from 13 to 33 when increased of quarry dust by 10% and CBR value of original soil had increased from 13 to 59 after adding 10%> quarry dust and 4% lime. Hence, it has shown that optimum soil-quarry dust-lime mixture is the best solution for Upper Sub-base. en_US
