dc.description.abstract A practical low cost device was invented to reduce the wastage of cooking gas. The device can be used in cooking with spherical bottom pans like, "thachchiya”, which are used in many Sri Lankan households. The main objective is to reduce the energy loss to the surrounding due to convection, conduction and radiation. The device is made of galvanized plates and glass wool & the efficiency of the device is compared with that of the bare pan by measuring the time taken to boil a fixed amount of water while keeping the other conditions same. The new device reduces the gas consumption by about 8%. en_US
