dc.description.abstract |
Socio-economic developments through the renewable resources are highly
important in the percent situation in the rural area of the dry zone. Multiple use of
reservoir together with culture based fisheries is possible method to develop socio
economic condition in village level. The percent study was carried out in
kottukachchiya medium perennial tank of puttalam district. With the introduction of
fingerlings to the reservoir the culture based fisheries has been started in
kottukachchiya reservoir.
Daily income level, organization income, total annual production and fish stocking
intensity were considered in this study. The results showed that daily income level
through the fishing was increased. As a result of the culture based fishery reservoir
monitoring and management with the government institutions has been increased. In
addition to that the economic benefits, the fishing methods, fishing equipments,
reservoir cove development and the subsidies have been obtained by the
organization. Group activity together with best management practices cased to
increase the annual stocking volume in this medium perennial tank of
kottukachchiya.
Culture based fresh water reservoir fisheries in medium perennial tanks are effective
way to develop socio economic conditions of the rural communities in dry zone
area. |
