^development in the rural sector was carried out selecting three areas in the Kamburupitiya

Further it tries to introduce problems faced by women in their services. In addition,

Methods such as field observations, interviews and questionnaire survey have been
used in the methodology of the study. A woman contributes a large portion of what she
earns for the development of her family. It is apparent that she contributes to the socio
economic development, whilst performing her duties as an income earner. This
contribution is 62.3% in this study area and participation in labour and service sectors are
also very important. It shows that women’s labour is the higherst contribution for the
socio-economic development of the study area.
