Tue objecti,·es of our research were identifying and classifying flood risk areas into different classes in Thudawa area, Sri Lanka, and developing a geographical infonnation system (GIS) model to identify flood nilnerability areas accurately in Thudawa area. It was e:tpec.ted to propose pre,·enrive guidelines of flood hazard vulnerability using geo-informatics. The methodologic-al procedure is extremely imponant in this type of researc.h thus, the spatial multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) procedure "·as used. For this research, analytical hierarc.hy process {AHP) ,vas used for the criterion weighting. AHP calculations nm upon the results of esperts • judgment as proposed by the Satty incorporating pair-"ise comparison method. The results of this study attempt to analyse the existing flash flood risk levels using the GIS-based multi-criteria analysis technique wbic.h allowed ranl.Ug of risk areas
