dc.description.abstract This paper gives a review of the Tracking Systems Research and Development (R & D) program at the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering (DEIE), Faculty of Engineering. The R & D program began in September 2007 with an undergraduate final year project. The undergraduate project was successfully completed in May 2008. Further investigations have been carried out since then to adapt the system for elephant tracking. The R & D program has recently been extended for automatic field strength measurements. The R & D program is currently being extended for tracking of sea-going vessels, multiple target tracking and to develop a standard for drive tests for the telecommunication industry. Aspects of the Tracking Systems R & D program are reported in this paper. The technical content is limited to describing only the essentials of the devices developed. en_US
