Abstract:
This paper presents the outcomes of a research that investigates human brainwave
pattern among various individuals with the use of available technologies such as
Electroencephalogram (EEG), Brain Computer Interface (BCI) system and
Emotiv/Epoc+ Headband. Though the signals generated from human brain have
common frequency categories, it has significant variation from person to person
even for the same activities. The objective of this research is to analyse the variations
of human brainwave patterns for similar activities among various individuals.
The procedure of the experiment is to record data from 10 healthy participants. Each
participant conducted three trials Thus; 40 recordings of raw EEG signals were
collected with associated labels. Each trial started with a silent period of 30 seconds
to 60 seconds, which will use as a baseline, then relaxation music and video for one
minute. After completion of data acquisition, the saved data are plotted in to
different graphs according to the channel.
Finally, obtained wave patterns are analysed, in order to identify the variations. In
general these human brain wave spectrums are varying person to person due to
various reasons such as mind set of the person during an activity, healthy level of
the person, placement of the electrodes on the head etc. In addition, the brain wave
pattern corresponding to a similar human activity varies for different individuals.
