Abstract:
Information Technology (IT) services represent a cornerstone of Sri Lanka's export economy, ranking as the nation's second-largest revenue generator. The innate ingenuity of Sri Lankan manifests in cutting-edge innovations within the IT sector, driving advancements powering international stock markets, telecommunications, and transportation systems in Europe and the UK. Sri Lanka's IT sector supports numerous industry verticals, boasting over 500 companies. This study delves into the relationship between training and development and employee performance within organizations, focusing on various training variables such as assessment, design, delivery style, and evaluation. The research encompasses a population of 750 employees, including Junior Executives and Executive level staff, with a sample of 254 individuals selected using the Morgan table. Primary data were collected via a self-structured questionnaire, supplemented by secondary data from relevant journal articles. Among the pioneers in this sector is the selected company, a trailblazer in Sri Lanka's IT industry. Over three decades, it has evolved into one of the country's most esteemed IT solution providers, earning recognition from both partners and customers. The study aims to provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of training and development programs in enhancing employee performance, guiding decision-making processes regarding training initiative design, implementation, and evaluation. This comprehensive research contributes to understanding the intricate relationship between training variables and employee performance.
